Empowering Women Through New Opportunities

NOW aims at sustainable development in the underprivileged sector. Key issues chosen by NOW include:

· HEALTH

Health has been a core issue of NOW, particularly Reproductive & Child Health. NOW has also been actively involved in interventions of adolescent health, RTI's & STI's in the community (Reproductive Tract Infections & Sexually Transmitted Infections), HIV/AIDS in South Delhi, working with High Risk Groups. NOW has been conducting Counseling Sessions, Work-Shops, Health Camps in order to further this activity. Health is an ongoing concern of NOW and it consciously mobilizes male participation in this area.

· ENVIRONMENT

Environment protection and upgradation has been NOW's interest since its inception. NOW has been actively committed in sanitation drives, educating communities on tree plantation.
Saying 'NO' to SMOKING.
Saying 'NO' to CRACKERS.
NOW has implemented Solid Waste Management activities in Central Delhi and Social Forestry in Kalahandi, an extremely backward district in Orissa.

· EDUCATION

NOW holds literacy classes in South Delhi, particularly for street /homeless children. It has been conducting education classes in urban villages and slums. It is particularly involved in Computer Education of slum boys and girls at its center in Sunlight Colony, focusing on carrier oriented packages.

· VOCATIONAL EDUCATION

NOW conducts training classes for the under privileged and women to further their job prospects by way of placements / self-employment. All job-aspirants who have passed out from our facility are earning members bringing valuable income to their families.
NOW's Vocational Training includes:

Computer Application,
Cutting and Tailoring,
Beauty Culture &Henna Designs,
Craft Course,
Nursery Teacher's Training &
English Speaking Course.

· SOCIAL ISSUES

Issues on which NOW disseminates information and creates awareness to impact existing mindset in a positive manner are:

Gender concern.
Basic education and Vocation of girl child.
Women's Empowerment.
Nutrition, Reproductive Health, Sexual Health, HIV / AIDS concern among adolscent boys & girls.
Safer lifestyles in connection to STI's / HIV / AIDS among High Risk Groups
Safe motherhood & responsible fatherhood.
Small family norm.
Legal Literacy.
Reproductive Rights & Responsibilities.
National Integration by partnering with minority communities and with backward classes.

· PARTNERSHIPS

NOW believes in forging useful and long-term mutually beneficial partnerships with national and international agencies, Corporates, other NGO's, Govt. Departments which would further it's mission and vision.

· PLACEMENTS

NOW has been placing trained / deserving beneficiaries in suitable companies thereby strengthening its forward linkages and ensuring long-term, enhanced eco-status of marginalized girls and women.
